Spicyroad

The Project

Spicyroad is a project which aims to broaden the minds of its volunteer members by actively learning about the world around us through social travel (hitchhiking/couchsurfing), meeting with people from all walks of life and learning local recipes as a means to connect with those we meet. By doing this, as well as by meeting with NGOs, we hope to learn and raise awareness of the pressing issues surrounding women and refugee rights through our social media pages and other content we create.

We hope that we can use all the knowledge that we acquire to start a restaurant in Berlin, Germany whereby female refugees and migrants can be independent and earn a sustainable living.

On our website and our social media pages, we document our journey and experiences in form of pictures, videos and articles.

What Does the Project Consist Of?

Collecting Recipes

We want to collect the best recipes from the places we visit and create a global cookbook. This will be used to create beautiful dishes and form the base for an international restaurant which shall support female refugees.

Visiting NGOs

Spicyroad will be visiting NGOs that deal either with womens' rights or refugees. We hope to be able to interview some of the people who work there and we will help out through volunteering if the opportunity arises. We also want to learn from these NGOs and gain some valuable insight as to how we can best carry out our future restaurant project.

Videos & Articles

We will be documenting and sharing our experiences in the form of photos and videos. We will also write articles to reflect on the encounters with people and cultures we will have throughout our journey.

Hitchhiking

What kind of travel is comparable to hitch-hiking? You never know what kind of person your next driver will be, what interesting discussions you will have with them and how that encounter will change your perspective on life. Together with couchsurfing, this is social travelling at its finest!
