Hello!! I am Jessica, a 32 -year old from Chicago, Illinois who is crazy in love with life! After spending enough time traveling through the States, I couldn’t ignore the intense calling I had to see the world.
Over time, I have come to understand the difference between a tourist and a traveler. I have spent the majority of my life being a slave to routine and a prisoner to comfort. It took a great amount of courage to break past the limits I placed on myself, but I finally quit my job, packed my backpack, and said my goodbyes. Now here I am where my dreams meet reality.
Just before leaving for this trip that I thought would be an ordinary backpacking trip through Europe, I came across the Spicyroad Project and immediately felt a strong connection to it. Hitchhiking across the world, for a good cause, with like-minded people…Yes, please!! I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Human Services with the intention of doing international humanitarianism work. This project will give me the opportunity to stay connected to my degree, but also making unforgettable memories along the way. The experiences I collect as a traveler will help shape my worldview and will later allow me to be more effective when I start my career. Spicyroad is such a unique project! There are nearly 7 billion people in this world, and somehow we all found each other.
While we may not be able to change the world, we can certainly leave our mark on it. And the best thing we can do is to encourage others to do the same.
