Hi guys, I’m Ia :D! I’m an experienced hitchhiker with an ironically (super) heavy backpack, a bad feminist who still loves dancing to hip-hop music and a flexitarian who tries to avoid buying meat, but eats it when it will otherwise be thrown away.
I started to travel and hitchhike by myself in 2014, and it changed my life. Seeing as I was born and raised in a society which treats students as studying machines who are discouraged to think independently, I had no idea what I really wanted to do.
I had no idea what the concept of human rights were, didn’t know how to deal with situations which made me feel uncomfortable, didn’t know the difference between vegetarian and vegan, didn’t know how to cook more than 5 dishes and I never listened to music without a reason to because I thought it was a waste of time.
After my years of travel, I finally learned that I don’t need to be “pretty” as a woman, that I can have an opinion without fear of getting a ‘bitch’ stamp label on me, that being a feminist isn’t synonymous with being a hairy angry woman who doesn’t like men, also not that that’s a bad thing and found a clue to living in this world as minority.
I’m still trying to find a better way to deal with the world. Once I began to realize how much shit is going on in this earth, things like racism, sexism (misogyny), capitalism and global warming, I tried to find the best way for me to cope with it.
It is for this reason that I organized Spicyroad. I hope that it can be a project where all of the people who join me can find their own ways to deal with these global problems, so that together we can all change the world for the better!
